Hyderabad: No insect in Gandhi Hospital saline, says report

Hyderabad: The saline bottles in the batch that was given to Sai Pravalika in Gandhi Hospital had no contamination. The TS Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation has claimed that tests it has carried out are clear.

Sai Pravalika’s father Bhikshapathy allegedly that the saline was contaminated. The report of the test has been sent to the health department. Other bottles in the same have been tested in a government facility and also a private laboratory which also found no trace of contamination.

Bhikshapathy had alleged that he found an insect in the saline given to his daughter and her condition deteriorated after that. The “insect” he had videotaped was alive, and in the opinion of doctors, that’s not possible.

Drugs unit report awaited
A senior officer of the Telangana State Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation said, “We have checked the batch and also carried out random checking of other bottles and it was found that there is no contamination in the saline bottles. The German company, which is tied up with the corporation, has also carried out internal investigations in their unit and they too have not found any contamination in their batches.”

Gandhi Hospital superintendent Dr J.V. Reddy said the bottle with the insect has been sent to the Drug Controller.

Sai Pravalika had a neurodegenerative disorder and her condition was slowly deteriorating, according to doctors who treated her at Gandhi Hospital. The child died on February 6 at the hospital.
