Nacharam in grip of swine menace
Hyderabad: The swine menace in the Indra Nagar and Raghavendra Nagar colonies of Nacharam seems to be never ending with the animal population continuing to grow. They are being bred by some people who feed them and sell them. Many residents complain that the area was being neglected due to political influence of a particular community in the society which breeds these swines. “Despite repeated complaints to the authorities no action has been taken against them because they have bribed local leaders to operate their business,” Mr Ravi Kumar, resident of Indra Nagar, said.
Mr Shekhar S, corporator in-charge, said, “The problem is not just the swines. Issues like dumping of garbage and not cleaning of nalas cause unhygienic conditions. If these problems are addressed to, the problem of strays will be resolved. Several representations were made to the government of Telangana to sanction funds to clean the nalas but there was no response.” M Lakshmi a resident of Raghavendra Nagar said, “The entire area is filled with stray dogs and swine’s. There is a fear among the people that the stray dogs or swine’s may attack their children anytime.”
