Watch: Elephant runs rampage in Kerala, flings tempo traveller with ease

The incident is reported to have taken place in Kongad area of Palakkad district in Kerala.

Mumbai: In yet another case of man-animal conflict, a video purportedly showing an elephant running rampage in Kerala’s Palakkad district has gone viral on Facebook.

The elephant is seen flinging everything ranging from a motorbike, to an auto-rickshaw to a tempo truck with alarming strength, all the while two mahouts are seen perched on top of the rampaging creatures.

The elephant was initially hitched to an anchor but manages to break free to unleash unimaginable chaos among the shocked villagers. The incident is reported to have taken place in Kongad area of Palakkad district in Kerala.

The elephant, named Devidasan, was part of a religious festival in the local temple. There has been a raging debate on the use of elephants for religious purposes in Kerala with animal rights activists condemning the centuries old practice. Last year, Pamela Anderson had written to the State Chief Minster requesting he step in to prevent the use of elephants for the famed Thrissur festival.
