VS Achuthanandan produces more evidence in Pattoor land case
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan's counsel T. B. Hood produced in the vigilance court on Saturday, documents to substantiate the allegation that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and former chief secretary E. K. Bharatbhushan had violated rules of business while dealing with the file on the Pattoor land fraud.
The documents included the rules of business of the government and the rules of the Kerala Water Authority while dealing with its assets. The council also produced orders of the Supreme Court on duties and procedures to be followed by the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues while dealing with administrative matters.
The counsel, on the basis of the documents, argued that the Chief Minister and the chief secretary should have gone for an opinion of the departments like water resources department, revenue department and the vigilance before clearing the file. The case will be considered by the court again on Monday.
However, Additional director of Prosecution G Saeendran argued that both the Vigilance court and the Vigilance team that reported irregularities in the Pattoor land grab case did not have the competence to deal with such cases.
