Chennai: PMK’s chief ministerial candidate Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, wearing a sporty mic like in a CEO’s presentation, addressed from a massive open LED AV stage and made a first of its kind audio-visual presentation highlighting problems faced by people and their solutions.
Stating that people who were ridiculing the PMK after the party named him as CM candidate, he said the public perception had since changed in support of his party. “People in the state are caught between the devil and deep sea. In the last 50 years, there is a choice with devil on one side and deep sea on other side.
Now in between there is a doctor (Anbumani) to choose,” he said, noting that PMK is the only party to have courage to face the electorate on its own. “The 66-year-old DMK is afraid of contesting alone and is looking for allies, while another leader who said she couldn’t see any opposition in front of her is also frightened,” he said.
Quoting from Martin Luther King’s famous “I have a dream” speech, Dr Anbumani said he also has a dream of making the state liquor-free, eradicating corruption and poverty.
“My first signature if voted to power will be to enforce prohibition. The AIADMK minister is saying prohibition will lead to hooch tragedies. I assure you we won’t let that happen”, he said adding that his party would regulate the mining of river sand, minerals and granite so as to generate revenue of Rs 1 lakh crore to offset the loss due to prohibition.
He also assured to implement independent Lokayuktha to deal with corruption and also a toll free number to register corruption complaints under the direct monitoring of chief minister.
Party founder Dr Ramadoss said once Anbumani got voted to power, he would emerge as a role model for all the other CMs through his visionary development plans for the state.
Several speakers including J. Guru debunked the attempts made by other political parties to term PMK as a caste party.
The PMK rally also adopted a political resolution accusing the successive DMK and AIADMK regimes of being responsible for all the ills faced by the people and appealing to the voters to choose Dr Anbumani as their CM.
“The damages done by the 50 years rule of the Dravidian parties cannot be listed. Only PMK can relieve the state from the evils of liquor, corruption and economic setback. For the 7.5 crore people’s welfare, you should vote Dr Anbumani to power,” the resolution urged.
