Rain hits coal production, Rabi crops

According to sources, output of nearly 30,000 tonnes had been affected in the open cast mines.

Mancherial: Unexpected rain has affected coal production in the open cast mines in undivided Adilabad and Karimnagar districts besides sending temperatures plunging. Fog has enveloped the mines over the last two days, reducing visibility.

According to sources, output of nearly 30,000 tonnes had been affected in the open cast mines.

Coal workers were not attending duty fearing accidents in the inclement weather and poor light.

Coal production was affected in the mines in Srirampur, Mandamarri, Bellampalli Ramakrishnapur and Goleti in Mancherial and Kumarambheem Asifabad districts. Paddy, chana and cotton crops were hit in old Adilabad district. They would become vulnerable to pests.
