Hyderabad: Citizens suffer as rain hits power supply

Power cuts were high in Hyderabad South and Central zones. About 52 feeders in South Zone and 38 in Central Zone tripped.

Hyderabad: Citizens faced a tough time because of a power shutdown following a heavy downpour on Saturday night.

Power cuts were also noticed in Chanda Nagar, Kothaguda, Borabanda, Nehru Nagar, Kundanbagh, Begumpet, Jawahar Nagar, Madannapet, Chanchalguda, Moosarambagh, Teegalaguda, Asmangadh, Bandlaguda, Asif Nagar, Malakpet, Chilkalguda, Lumbini Park, Gymkhana, Sultan Bazar, Vittalwadi, Nampally, Gosha Mahal, Nanakramguda, Indira Park, Ziaguda, Osmania Hospital, Karwan, Marredpally, Bowenpally, Lalaguda, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Tolichowki, Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Ameerpet, Tirumalgherry, ECIL and Saket.

The power department has cut power in some areas as a precautionary measure, because of strong winds and rain on Saturday night. The electricity department restored power in many areas, but a few areas remained in the dark till sunrise.

Mr Praveen K. S. of Shamsheer Gunj said there is no power in his area since Saturday night.

Another consumer, Himabindu Chamala of Almas Guda, tweeted, “We don’t have power all night.”
