Chennai: Man held for secretly filming girls on Metro
Chennai: Some quick thinking by a group of girls travelling by a Metro train led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man who was filming them on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred on the Metro going from Koyambedu to the airport. Priya (not her real name), one of the group of five girls, said, “The man sat right oppositeus thought the coach was empty. He took out his cellphone and started staring at the screen as if he was watching something on it.
But we saw the reflection of the phone on the train’s window and realised he was filming us.”
She said the group confronted the man about it and informed Metro control room director Subramanian, who alerted the Vadapalani police.
The police rushed to the Vadapalani station by the time the train reached there, and apprehended the man. Police identified the man as Dinesh, 45, an employee with a private firm in the city and a resident of Anna Nagar.
Police inspected his cellphone and found a video clip of the girls. Upon questioning, the man reportedly claimed that the girls were wearing “short clothes” and were uncultured, a police official said. Investigations are on, the official said.
