SCCL Polls: HC Refuses Relief to TRSKS, Questions State, Centre on Petition

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday refused to issue orders favouring the Telangana Regional Singareni Karmika Sangham (TRSKS), which sought it be allowed to contest the Singareni Collieries Company Limited trade union polls, on the grounds that the polls were less than 24 hours away.

However, Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy asked the Union labour department, SCCL, Telangana government and returning officer concerned to furnish reasons why the TRSKS was disallowed from contesting the polls scheduled for Wednesday.

TRSKS, in the petition, submitted to the court that the association was registered in December 2019 and had filed nominations on October 6, 2023, for determination of relative strength of trade unions operations in SCCL.

It contended that the returning officer disqualified TRSKS from contesting in the ensuing secret ballot election on the ground that it had not completed one year as of January 1, 2020, the cut-off date, after registration under Trade Unions Act, 1926, as required under the Code of Discipline, 1958.
