Leading the way

Hyderabad: They dared to dream, worked hard to achieve them and proved their mettle in their respective fields. The year 2023 stood witness to the achievements of some extraordinary men and women from the two Telugu states, which the world took note of, writes Swati Sharma.

Anumula Revanth Reddy

Clearly, Revanth Reddy was the mega achiever of the year. Sheer determination, hard work and well-made strategies led him to occupy the powerful chair of the Chief Minister of Telangana. Not only did he upset the BRS camp after 10 years of their rule, but Revanth single-handedly led the Congress party to a much-needed sweet victory down south, barely two years after being appointed as the TPCC President. With the gift of gab and a razor-sharp mind, he won the hearts of the people of Telangana. Going by all his right moves ever since he became the Chief Minister, Revanth is the man to watch out for in 2024.

Aparna Reddy

Aparna Enterprises’ executive director put another feather to her head when she received the Women Young Achievers award at the Realty+ Women Icon Conclave & Awards 2023, which honoured her achievements in the building materials area.

Vinay Ram

the founder of Planetgreen Infra Pvt Ltd was named the ‘Most Inspiring Green Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the Indian Achievers Awards for his efforts in building environmentally safe and sustainable living places, as well as his environmental devotion.

Vinay Addagiri

Aertsen Living’s co-founder was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 by the Telangana Government and Vande Bharath Trust. This achievement follows his significant recognition with the Pride of Hyderabad, demonstrating his remarkable success in the design sector.

Rumana Sinha Sehgal

Serendipity’s founder and T-Hub mentor Rumana Sinha Sehgal received the Karmaveer Chakra Gold medal, which was co-instituted by the United Nations and iCongo. She bagged the award in November, adding to her extensive list of accomplishments for her outstanding services to society.

Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy

The Chairman of AIG needs no introduction. Over the years, he has taken the world of gastroenterology by storm with his path-breaking research and treatments which draws millions of people to AIG from across the globe. This year, Dr Nageshwar Reddy was conferred with a Life Time Achievement award by Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence (SSSUHE), Karnataka. Dr Reddy was recognised for bringing many innovations in health care, and for the healthcare services that he has started for the rural population.

Dr GV Rao

Leader in his field, Dr. GV Rao is keen to develop indigenous research pathways, techniques, and technologies that can assist clinicians in treating patients in a more efficient and economical manner. As such, basic science research is a crucial area of interest for the director and chief of surgical gastroenterology, GI Oncology, and minimal invasive surgery at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG).
He believes there is great potential for creating a subspecialty of GI surgery that combines AI with surgery. Surgeons would be taught on AI models, and the data points gathered from their use will help refine critical surgical techniques.

Sudha Reddy

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) Director Sudha Reddy received the coveted ‘World’s Best Leader’ award at the House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster from Baroness Sandip Verma and Baroness Pola Uddin. UNICEF has also collaborated with the philanthropist to support education and general well-being, ensuring that every kid has the right to survive, flourish, and be protected.

Dr. Aravind Kumar Rengan

In recognition of his exceptional achievements to the field of biological sciences, Dr. Aravind Kumar Rengan, a professor at the Indian Institute of Technology - Hyderabad, has been named the 2023 Runner-Up in the Biological Sciences Merck Young Scientist Award (MYSA).

Dr A Saibaba Goud

All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) has bestowed the lifetime achievement award on Padma Shri awardee Dr. A Saibaba Goud of Hyderabad. The award is given to ophthalmologists in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field. Dr. Goud has also earned the Dr. BC Roy National Award, as well as awards from six successive Indian Presidents and over 15 Governors across the country.

T. Patanjali Sastry

Telugu writer T. Patanjali Sastry has been announced as recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards for the year 2023.
Tallavajhala Patanjali Sastry is the grandson of two Telugu literary titans — Tallavajhala Sivasankara Sastry, from the father’s side, and Mokkapati Narasimha Sastry, from the mother’s side. The author of the classic novel ‘Barrister Parvateesam dedicated his story collection to both grandparents.

Abhinay Bollineni

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) is on expansion spree. The current acquisition of Sunshine Hospitals besides aquisition of hospital in Nagpur, coincided with Abhinay Bollineni’s appointment as CEO.

Prof. Anuradha J

As the Head, Department of Dance at University of Hyderabad she
received the Women Achiever Award -2023 conferred to eminent women working in various fields by Govt. of Telangana on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Charu Sinha

Telangana cadre IPS officer Charu Sinha was appointed as Inspector General of the CRPF’s Southern Sector in Hyderabad. She is the first female IPS officer to oversee the SS and also the first woman officer to command anti-terror operations in the CRPF Srinagar sector in 2020.

Pawan Kumar Chandana & Naga Bharath Daka

Skyroot Aerospace, a pioneering aerospace firm situated in Hyderabad, was named the India Business Leader Award 2023 Young Turk Startup of the Year. Skyroot’s founders — Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka — received the award from Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. Chandana and Daka are driving the transformation of India’s aerospace industry with their combined experience and persistent zeal for space exploration.

Kamlesh D Patel aka Daaji

Daaji was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian honour. The Founder of Heartfulness and current President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission was awarded for his meritorious contribution of high order in spirituality. He was one of two recipients of the award from the state of Telangana, the other being spiritual leader Swami Chinna Jeeyar.
