Asaduddin Owaisi: Won't Attend Ram Temple Opening Even if Invited

Hyderabad: "The question does not arise," declared AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi in response to enquiries about whether he had received an invitation to the January 22 consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He categorically stated that even if an invitation were extended, he and his party members would not attend the event.

"We will not even go to the so-called masjid that is going to come up. I am deliberately saying so-called masjid because all schools of thought of Muslims have categorically said that namaz is not accepted if you go and pray in such places where you demolish a masjid illegally, take the land away, and build a mosque elsewhere," Owaisi told Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday.

Following the Supreme Court's judgment allocating the site where Babri Masjid once stood for the construction of the Ram temple, an alternate site was selected to build a new mosque in place of Babri Masjid.

"It is purely on the basis of belief that a judgment was given. We have disagreed with the judgment, and we have also said that once the judgment was given, I said you are opening floodgates for argument. Now you have Mathura, Kashi, Teele Wali masjid in Lucknow that are being dragged into disputes," he pointed out.
