Hyderabad: A gated community in Old Alwal celebrated Christmas with a difference by roping in people from all religions and felicitating those who had made the country proud, including a veteran tennis player and a retired IAF personnel.
The United Christmas Celebrations Committee of Sai Srinivasam Apartment, Old Alwal, felicitated Warrant Officer Maram Reddy Yohan (retired), 81, who had participated in the 1965 India-China war, and 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars.
The committee also felicitated Suresh Murthati, 66, who is ranked 98th in the International Tennis Federation for players above 65 years, too. He has to his credit several national and international championship in the veterans category.
Apartment association president M. Sarita Reddy and general secretary Devarakonda Anil reiterated their commitment to foster communal harmony by organising all major religious and national festivals in the apartment complex of 155 flats, with Bakrid being the next.
