Will not apologise, let BJP talk: H D Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru: After coming under severe fire from the opposition for his directive to police officials to ‘shoot’ the assailants of a JD(S) leader in Mandya, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday tried to turn the tables on the BJP saying the government led by B.S. Yeddyurappa, soon after assuming power in 2008, had ordered firing on farmers killing two of them in Haveri. “Did Mr Yeddyurappa apologise to people then,” he asked aloud.
Asserting that there was no need to take his ‘shootout’ statement seriously, Mr Kumaraswamy made it clear that he would not apologise to anyone. Replying to questions by reporters at Vidhana Soudha here on Wednesday, he said he had already clarified on the issue and would not react again.
“I am also a human being and I am emotional. I react whenever people face problems. When I saw the family members (of murdered JD-S leader Prakash), I used the word encounter. I will not apologise for that,” he said, adding, “emotional reactions are common in every human being. There is no need to take it seriously.”
