Hyderabad: A Delhi-bound IndiGo plane returned to the parking bay from the runway at the Hyderabad RGI Airport on Wednesday morning to offload luggage of an individual who did not board the aircraft.
The flight 6E-308, carrying one seventy five passengers, was delayed by 56 minutes when one of the passengers who was scheduled to board along with two others, who were travelling under a group booking, did not show up at the gate.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 4:35 am. A passenger said the aircraft returned to the parking bay after being on the runway as the airline had loaded the baggage of an individual who was not on board.
“His baggage was loaded on the flight and was only identified once all the passengers had boarded. The airport team initiated the process to offload the baggage from the flight,” the spokesperson said in an official statement.
According to an airport official, it is risky and the safety of the passengers would be at stake if the plane takes off with just the baggage on it. Appropriate action is taken accordingly by the concerned airlines, which then hands the passenger over to CRPF jawans.
