Hyderabad: There are websites by fake babas to win back the ladylove. These babas ask whether the girl in question is to be made a wife or a girlfriend. They ask men to send both the parties photos and personal details. They will come out with their findings by charging anything between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000.
“People send their personal information to these fraudsters after believing them and later get blackmailed,” said K.C.S. Raghuvir, additional DCP, cybercrimes, Hyderabad.
Sharing his plight, Nikhil Daniel, a 24-year-old victim from KPHB, said, “After being constantly ignored and overshadowed by better-looking men at my workplace, I approached one such website wherein they asked my photos and the girl’s photos and date of birth, height, weight, etc. After two days, I received a call and was asked to deposit '2,000 to know what was discovered. Thereafter, it was just a string of demands for money in return of probably nothing but some lame advices.”
