Andhra Pradesh government to have statewide surveillance

The Government would have state-wide surveillance connecting over 20,000 cameras.

Vijayawada: As part of the AP fibre grid project, the Government would have state-wide surveillance connecting over 20,000 cameras, 16 integrated district command control and data centres, powering smart cities and connecting mobile towers. This is first of its kind project across the country, which President Ramnath Kovind would be dedicating to the nation on Wednesday.

Powering digital classrooms in over 4,000 government schools and delivering telemedicine at 6,000 public health centres were also salient features of the project. Termed as Triple Play2 Services by technological experts, the fibregrid project envisaged provision of internet, television and telephone services to over 1 lakh households in the state at a nominal price of '149 each per month. While the internet services would be available at a very high speed of 15-100 Mbps, television services would provide infotainment from 250 plus channels and telephone services would be completely rental-free.

Reviewing the arrangements for the launch with senior state officials, Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed happiness that his ‘dream’ of providing internet, television and telephone services to the common man at a very nominal price was being realised.
