Hyderabad: Government Girls Junior College in Barkas offers one course
Hyderabad: Since its inception in 2008, the Government Girls Junior College in Maisaram, Barkas, does not have a building for itself. The Directorate of Intermediate Education has not alotted space for the purpose.
The college, which is run from the building of the Government Girls High School, is forced to offer only Civics, Economics and Commerce due to lack of infrastructure.
College principal Sadiqa Begum said, “It is impossible to start new courses unless we get a new building. Land has not been identified for the building.
She said the funds were spent on paying the staff and to purchase sports equipment and stationery.
“It becomes very difficult to manage with low staff and a large number of students,” said Mr Adnan Ahmed, an accountant.
Asked about the college, Mr C. Harindranath, District Intermediate Education Officer, said he had taken charge recently, and would examine the issue.
Ms Syeda Ayesha, an Intermediate I student, said, “I wanted to study BPC but the course is not provided by this college, and my parents are poor so they cannot afford to send me in a private college.”
