Rachakonda cops bust major flesh trade racket

The efforts of the police resulted in the rescue of seven victims and arrest of four women.

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown against trafficking of women, a man, who was providing finance to over 20 brothels, across three commissionerates and encouraging flesh trade, has been arrested by Rachakonda police.

The efforts of the police resulted in the rescue of seven victims and arrest of four women from brothers at Saroornagar, Medipally and LB Nagar areas.

Meanwhile, the others involved in the flesh trade managed to escape and sleuths are confident of nabbing them soon.

Investigations into the flesh trade, revealed that the accused Shetty Vishwakanth, 30, a resident of Chengicherla has reportedly sexually assaulted the victims, who were trafficked to the city.

Vishwakanth came under the police radar given his sudden extravagance. He was caught following a well-executed decoy operation by sleuths from Rachakonda Special Operations Team (Malkajgiri).

Sources close to Rachakonda police shared that for the last one year, Vishwakanth has been providing finance to the brothel organisers and was collecting interest between five and 10 percent. He was providing money on a daily, weekly and monthly basis subject to the borrower’s needs. Vishwakanth’s revelations shocked the police. He admitted that he sexually assaulted the victims who were trafficked to the city, and was financing brothels across commissionerates.
