Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to implement the Direct Benefit (DBT) for buying fertilisers from January next year. As per the notification by the registrar regarding implementation of the DBT system in fertilisers, it will be executed from New Year 2018. Under the system, a farmer will have to pay for the fertilisers through point of sale (PoS) devices and subsidy amount will be deposited in his bank account later. All the transactions will be made online and no dealer can sale the fertiliser without PoS from January 1.
The subsidised fertilisers will be purchased through PoS machines installed at each PACS and LAPMPCS. The Aadhaar Card, Kissan Credit Cards and Voter Identity Cards will also be mandatory. The identity of the beneficiaries will be verified through Aadhaar based biometric authentication. The transactions sale will be tracked online.
