Hyderabad: Bike rams into tree, 3 drunk youths dead
Hyderabad: Three youngsters lost their lives in an accident caused by drunk driving. They were returning home after a drinking session when they rammed their bike into a tree on the roadside at Petbasheerabad on Saturday night. The deceased were identified as Nenavath Anil Kumar, 25, a postgraduate student, Kandadi Shashidhar Reddy, 22, an electrician, and Chintu, 20, the owner of a tea stall. All three were residents of Gundlapochampally village.
Ten days ago, three youngsters died in a similar manner when their bike rammed into a road median on NH-7, at Petbasheerabad, about seven km away from the location of the most recent accident.
According to the police, the trio went to Madhavan Bar located at Ayodhya X Roads on Saturday night. After consuming alcohol, they decided to return home by bike.
Anil, who was heavily inebriated, was driving at a high speed. He lost control of the bike at a turn near the outskirts of Gundlapochampally village and rammed into a tree. “The three riders sustained injur-ies to their heads and died on the spot,” said S. Srinath, the SI of Petbasheerabad.
A case of accidental death was registered. In another accident, two persons were killed and ten sustained injuries on NH-7, in Medak district, in the wee hours of Sunday. The 12 victims were travelling to the Edupayala Temple by a mini-van. The driver lost control of the vehicle at Kucharam village, near Manoharabad, and crashed into a truck.
Two persons identified as Mohad Jani and Krishnaveni died while being shifted to the hospital, and the others sustained injuries. Officials say that two of the injured passengers are in a critical state.
