Andhra Pradesh: Woman of the New Millennium' hackathon held

The event was hosted and sponsored jointly by Microsoft and Department of Youth Services, Government of AP.

Vijayawada: In the run-up to the GES-2017, a series of events have been organised across the state. As part of it, on Nov. 25 and 26, Girls in Tech Foundation, conducted a hackathon themed ‘Woman of the New Millennium’. The event was hosted and sponsored jointly by Microsoft and Department of Youth Services, Government of AP.

Girls in Tech Foundation organised the event, in partnership with Wave Labs, supported by Department of Youth Services, Government of AP, Telangana & AICTE, ministry of HRD, Government of India and the US Consulate General, Hyderabad. About 250 girls, selected by the Girls in Tech Foundation, from computer science stream in engineering colleges, from AP and TS participated in the hackathon.

"GES is an opportunity to promote women and women's economic opportunities, support entrepreneurship, and foster economic growth and prosperity for all. We are particularly proud to collaborate with the Indian government on this year's programme,” opined Katherine Hadda, US Consul General, Hyderabad.

“Government of AP is committed to foster spirit of Entrepreneurship and Innovation among the youth, especially the women,” said G. Komal Kishore, IRS, commissioner, Department of Youth Services. Students participating in the hackathon will benefit from the exposure by presenting their ideas and solutions to a jury comprising industry leaders and technology experts. The top two teams with the most innovative solutions will get an opportunity to present at GES 2017.
