Minister Rambabu Seeks Thorough Probe Into Attacks on Him in Telangana

Vijayawada: Minister for water resources Ambati Rambabu has sought a thorough investigation into “two attacks” on him at Sattupalli and Khammam.

“There should be an inquiry to ascertain how some wheat sacks fell on my car on Thursday night in Sathupalli and the ‘attempted assault’ on me in front of the hotel in Khammam on Friday,” he said.

Rambabu was on his way to attend a private function in Khammam when some wheat sacks from a truck fell on his car in Sattupalli late on Thursday night.

Telugu Desam supporters allegedly attempted to attack him while at a hotel in Khammam on Friday. Later, the minister returned to Amaravati and addressed the media. “There is a common aspect about both the incidents and a detailed inquiry will be done. A suo moto case has been booked on the attack in Telangana and the inquiry will reveal all the truth,” he said.

The minster said, “Ten people suddenly came and threatened to kill me in Khammam though I was having police security. The people belonging to a social group targeted me. The police have registered a case against them. Some news channels are spreading false information against me.”

He recalled that a sum of Rs 50 lakh was offered to kill him during the Kartika Vanabhojanam of the Kamma community. Rambabu said the Telangana police have arrested six ‘attackers’ immediately.

He pointed out that Vangaveeti Ranga was killed by such “caste maniacs” and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham was also attacked in the past.

Rambabu stated “If you love Chandrababu, express it differently. If attacks on me continue, we will not sit quiet. caste/ community-based politics is dangerous and it will ruin the TD.”
