Hyderabad: Man dupes customers of Rs 13 lakh, nabbed

Sreedhar furnished his mobile numbers in place of the contact numbers of the customers so that they are never alerted about the credit cards.

Hyderabad: A former employee of a private company which works with the SBI Credit Card division was arrested for obtaining credit cards using the identification proof of customers and purchasing a bike and jewellery.

Police said Nemalapalli Sreedhar, 25, a resident of Kukatpally, was arrested on Saturday for duping SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd to the tune of Rs 12.66 lakh.

Sreedhar, while working at Axis Securities, Bengaluru, had collected identification documents of bank customers who had not applied for a credit card and used them to get credit cards. Sreedhar furnished his mobile numbers in place of the contact numbers of the customers so that they are never alerted about the credit cards. In this manner, he obtained as many as seven credit cards. He used them to purchase jewellery in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and a bike, mobile phones and watches, all worth `12.66 lakh.

Bank officials who learned of this during internal checks, lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police, who nabbed Sreedhar from Kukatpally.
