YS Jagan Mohan Reddy refuses to give statement to AP police

YSRC party members alleged that the top brass of the AP police was biased in the investigation.

Hyderabad: YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has refused to give his statement to the AP police, who reached the hospital in the city on Friday morning.

Initially, a team of AO police officers informed senior party members that Mr Reddy had turned down their request to record his statement regarding Thursday’s attack on him at the Visakhapatnam airport.

However, the YSRC president reportedly called them inside his room at the and spoke to them informally as they had travelled so far. He insisted that it shouldn’t be considered as his statement.

Senior party members alleged that the top brass of the AP police was biased in the investigation into the incident, and Mr Reddy giving his statement would make no difference.

“We demand that the investigation be handed over to an independent agency for unbiased inquiry. Party leaders held a meeting regarding the investigation and decided to write to the President, Vice-President and Governor to hand over the case to another investigating body,” a party leader said.

Mr Reddy was later discharged from the hospital and was advised three days of rest. The ongoing padayatra of the YSRC chief has been consequently put on hold.
