Statement taken in assault case against Oommen Chandy and K C Venugopal
Thiruvananthapuram: The special investigation team probing the sexual assault cases against Congress leader Oommen Chandy and K.C. Venugopal recorded formal statement of the complainant woman on Friday.
According to sources, the woman appeared at the Crime Branch headquarters and gave the statement. The statement recording lasted for more than three hours. The Crime Branch team asked her to turn up on Saturday also as the statement recording could not be completed on Friday
Meanwhile, the special team submitted an application at a local court for recording statement of the woman before a magistrate.
A case was recently registered against Mr Chandy and Mr Venugopal on the basis of a complaint given by the woman. She alleged Mr Chandy sexually abused her at Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister, on a hartal day in 2012 and Venugopal raped her at a ministerial bungalow.
