K C Venugopal to disgruntled Congress men: Fall in line

Sources said following Mr Venugopal's intervention, district unit leaders reportedly agreed to work for Mr Nyamagouda.

Bengaluru: The cup of woes of Congress’ brimmeth over with dissent among Congress legislators and senior leaders spreading from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency to Jamkhandi Assembly segment, thus forcing general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, K.C. Venugopal, to issue a warning to them to fall in line and work for the success of candidates in bypolls scheduled for November 3.

Sources in the party said senior leaders were upset with indifferent attitude of Anand Siddu Nyamagouda and therefore stopped drumming up support for him. Deputy chief minister, Dr G. Parameshwar, who noticed this development, reportedly brought it to the notice of Mr Venugopal, and the latter who came to Karnataka to contain growing indiscipline within the party, held a meeting with senior leaders and sent out a stern message to heads of district units that the party would take stringent action if they failed to work for Mr Nyamagouda.

Sources said following Mr Venugopal’s intervention, district unit leaders reportedly agreed to work for Mr Nyamagouda.
