GHMC official suspended

The action came after Mr Kishore and senior officials inspected Kukatpally early in the day.

Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore on Friday suspended an assistant medical officer of health (AMoH) for not maintaining cleanliness at Bharatnagar, Moosapet. He instructed the officials to keep the city clean or else face stern action.

The action came after Mr Kishore and senior officials inspected Kukatpally early in the day. The Commissioner checked the ongoing work regarding the widening and re-carpeting of road and interacted with zonal commissioner J. Shankaraiah and other officials during his visit. Mr Kishore said the GHMC had to maintain sanitation according to international standards to make the city into a global destination.

Mr Kishore noticed that Moosapet lacked basic level of cleanliness and suspended Dr P S Kumar for neglecting his duties. He said that it was the moral responsibility of the deputy commissioner and the AMoH to look after sanitation issues and ensure that accumulated garbage was collected regularly and deposited at the garbage transfer stations.

He said the GHMC was spread over 628 sq. km and had 948 sanitary field assistants and 18,000 sanitation workers to clear the garbage.

Mr Kishore directed the sanitation wing to work in two or three shifts to clear the garbage.
