Hyderabad: Independent probe sought into attack
HYDERABAD: A PIL and a writ petition was moved separately before the Hyderabad High Court on Friday, seeking a direction to the Centre to deploy an independent agency to investigate into the attempted murder of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The petition urged that the court declare the action of the authorities conducting security checks at airports in AP, particularly at Visakhapatnam, as improper. YSRC former MP Y.V. Subba Reddy moved the writ urging the court to direct the Centre to conduct a probe through any independent agency which was in its control or a judicial probe.
Mr Subba Reddy told the court that after the incident, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and DGP R.P. Thakur had made contradictory statements. The ruling party had given a political colour to the incident instead of looking into the episode as a murder attempt on the Leader of Opposition.
