CMRL increases routes of feeder services, has dengue awareness camp
Chennai: As part of providing last mile connectivity to metro rail passengers, Chennai Metro Rail Limited had taken an initiative of providing feeder services through share auto and share taxi cab services at selected metro stations on trial basis for a period of six months. On Friday, CML introduced a new stop on the feeder service between Alandur Metro Station to DLF cyber city IT Park.
Currently four tempo travelers are plying between Alandur and DLF at an interval of 15 minutes, costing only Rs. 20. The route from Alandur metro station to DLF will now travel through the L&T office with a frequency of every 15 minutes on weekdays.
During weekends, to help shoppers and those looking to relax, the same service will take two routes, one from Alandur metro station to DLF Via L&T office to Saravana stores to SRM Easwari Engineering College and then back to Alandur metro and the other route from Alandur metro station to Phoenix Mall Via ITC Grand Chola and Velachery Main road. The two routes will also have the standard rate of Rs 20, a release from the CMRL said. The feeder services are available between 6.30 am and 9.30 pm on all days.
Meanwhile, in order to create awareness on dengue to workers of the CMRL project, special training was given to them at site locations on vector disease control, and steps to be taken to control them on Friday.
Doctors explained about the seriousness of the disease, and awareness videos were played to help in better understanding. Labourers were given nilavembu kashayam for the prevention of dengue, which is also done regularly at work sites and labour camps.
