Time to take Sagar-Srisailam cruise
Hyderabad: Cruise services from Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam are going to start in November 2017, as the water levels are as high as 570 feet making it perfect for a six hour cruise from one end to another. A trial run before the launch was carried out by Telangana Tourism Department on Thursday.
The cruise from Nagar-junasagar to Srisailam will be a two day trip. The services will be operational every Wednesday and Saturday. These services were carried out by the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh when the water levels had risen to the maximum. This year due to the October rains and good inflow into Nagarjunasagar the levels are good for the cruise run. The trip is being started again after four years.
Assistant General Manager B. Vathivaddeppally at the Nagarjunasagar Dam explained, “The water levels are very high and we can comfortably operate the services for the next three months. The cruise is essentially a peek into the scenic beauty of the place which has hillocks and forest areas.”
The boat ride of six hours covers a 100 km stretch of the river Krishna where lush greens are visible and the boat cruises between the hillocks making it a wonderful experience.
There are different packages which are available for people and are priced at Rs 3,400 per adult and Rs 3,000 per child. There are also single route packages of one way travel from Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam which are priced at Rs1,500 per adult.
The separated state of Andhra Pradesh also has boat rides at Srisailam which are within those bays. The cruise service from Telangana will only be operational for three months as the water levels will recede and when it touches 560 feet the cruise will have to be discontinued.
