Bengaluru: The state government will soon invite tenders to implement the CM’s One lakh houses scheme. After a review meeting here on Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters that the government wanted to complete the project within 24 months from the date of its launch.
People from the BPL category are eligible for these houses, each of which will cost Rs 5.5 lakh. The government will spend Rs 5,500 crore. Each beneficiary from the SC and ST categories has to deposit Rs 50,000. Those selected for the scheme from other categories have to deposit Rs 1 lakh. Mr Siddaramaiah said the authorities have been told to identify 1,100 acres of land for the project. Of the required land, 431 acres have been identified.
He said 80 per cent of the housing complexes would be given to BPL families residing in the limits of the BBMP. The rest would be given to beneficiaries residing in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region.
