K Chandrasekhar Rao says Centre likely to bring Bill on delimitation

If delimitation takes place, the CM can accommodate MLA aspirants in another 34 Assembly segments in the next elections.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS Legislature Party leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday hinted again of the possibility of the Central Government clearing the pending Delimitation of Assembly segments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Mr Rao had told news persons after meeting the Prime Minister in Delhi that the Centre is not in favour of increasing the Assembly seats in both the states.

However, on Thursday he said in the TRS Legislature Party meeting that he had the latest information from Delhi that fresh delimitation may take place and the Centre is going to introduce a Bill to this effect. If delimitation takes place, the CM can accommodate MLA aspirants in another 34 Assembly segments in the next elections. He said those wanting to contest should not hang around him hoping to get a ticket as he has decided to announce the candidates list three months prior to the next election.

He promised that sitting legislators would get tickets and predicted that the TRS would win with between 95 and 105 Assembly seats out of 119. The Chief Minister also said that the Opposition had no issues to take up in the session, and ruing party legislators should thus be able to counter them easily.
