Hyderabad to be made permanent film festival venue

The government is planning to organise it as a state festival and has released Rs 5.5 crore to conduct the festival.

Hyderabad: The TS government will conduct 20th International Film Festival from November 8 to November 14 at Hyderabad.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, cinematography minister, said that the government is planning to organise it as a state festival and has released Rs 5.5 crore to conduct the festival.

He said that the inaugural function and the closing ceremony will be held at Shilpa Kala Vedika. For the benefits of school children, 10 theatres were taken on rent in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Med-chal districts, he added.

He said international children’s films will be screened in 14 theatres. A record number of 1,408 entries from 108 countries have been received by the Child-ren Film Society of India (CFSI). The minister said 45 buses will be taken on rent to transport as many as 1,50,000 school children.

He said 93 countries will participate in the festival with 295 films. Out of 291 child delegates 50 child delegates from TS will attend this festival. He also said that the government is planning to make Hyderabad as a permanent venue to conduct this festival.

Several committees with officials from the state and central governments have been formed as part of the festival.
