GUNTUR: Only one MLA of TD, A. Satya Prasad attended the ZP meeting. No other MLA of the TD cared to attend the meeting to take public issues to the notice of officials. Further, Guntur TD MP, Galla Jayadev, was in the meeting for only one hour and another MP of Narasaraopeta, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, skipped the meeting. There are 12 MLAs and 2 MPs for TD and 5 MLAs of the YSR Congress in Guntur district.
Earlier, minister for civil supplies P. Pulla Rao used to hold the ZP meeting and YSRC legislators also used to raise public issues but for the last few times, they did not attend. There are two ministers for TD in the Guntur district -- Mr Pulla Rao and minister for social welfare N. Ananda Babu, and interestingly both of them did not attend the meeting. The public lamented that the legislators of the Opposition used to make good use of the ZP meetings to raise public issues but no MLA of the YSRC attended the ZP meeting. Interestingly, a majority of the MLAs are living in Guntur but no one attended the meeting.
MLC B. Nageswara Rao lamented that there is no use of the ZP meeting as it is conducted only for record purpose. He further lamented that the two ministers belonging to Guntur district, P. Pulla Rao and N. Anand Babu, did not attend and further the district collector also came late. He stated that no issues would be taken for discussion or resolved if the ruling party is reluctant towards ZP meetings.
