Kollam: A slew of Muslim organisations under the personal law protection council will organise a rights protection conference at Kollam on Friday protesting against the Center's move to implement uniform civil code. The conference will be inaugurated by Prof. Aalikkutty Musliar, personal law board member and Samastha Kerala Jameyathul Ulama state general secretary at the Karbala ground here on Friday by 4 pm.
The personal law protection council said that the political agenda of BJP to implement the uniform civil code would not be endorsed because the code was part of monoculture argument put forward by the Hindutva political supporters. It added that the code also invades the right to religious freedom ensured by the constitution, in the name of safety of Muslim women. Those who allege violation of fundamental rights to Muslim women are those widowed thousands of women through mutinies, the council alleged.
