ANANTAPUR: Police shifted former minister Paritala Sunitha, who sat on hunger strike two days ago, to the Anantapur government hospital following a report by doctors that her health is deteriorating.
A team of doctors checked her health at her hunger strike camp and advised that she be shifted to a hospital. On Tuesday morning, police reached the camp and forcibly evacuated the TD cadres before shifting Sunitha from the spot to the hospital. Both Sunitha and her cadres resisted attempts of police to shift her.
The former minister even threatened to hang herself with a cloth sheet. Police snatched away the sheet.
At the hospital, doctors shifted her to the emergency ward and started her on saline.
A large number of TD protestors gathered at the hospital decrying her shifting. This caused inconvenience to other patients and their attendants.
Speaking to media at the emergency ward, Sunitha said the state government is violating their democratic rights by foiling their protests. She stated that while shifting her to the hospital, several police officers informed her that they are unhappy with their job and are planning to resign.
The former minister said she advised the police officers to wait for another six months, when the YSRC will lose the elections and Telugu Desam will be back in power.
