HYDERABAD: The Congress-supported Bharat Bandh demanding immediate scrapping of the three farm laws introduced by the NDA government at the Centre passed off on a peaceful note across the state on Monday.

The CPI, CPI (M), TD, TJS, CPI-ML New Democracy and other parties extended support to the bandh.

Police arrested TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, Congress MLAs and other senior leaders at various places as a preventive measure.

Traders shut down their establishments while educational institutions were closed for the day. Under the heavy downpour following Cyclone Gulab, there was no visible impact of the bandh and transport services, petrol bunks and eateries functioned as usual.

Revanth Reddy staged a protest at Boduppal bus depot from where police arrested him and took him to Uppal police station. CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLC T. Jeevan Reddy and Congress MLAs D. Sridhar Babu and Seethakka proceeded to the Legislative Assembly building on a horse-cart to mark their protest against hike in fuel prices. On being denied entry into the Assembly premises, they squatted on the road from where they were shifted to Ramgopalpet police station.

TPCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud staged a protest at Shamshabad, Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Nagpur highway, Damodar Raja Narsimha on the Mumbai highway and Sampat Kumar on Bengaluru highway.
