Ramagundam: 90-year-old tries to end life
Ramagundam: A 90 year-old person who allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Godavari was saved by locals in Godavarikhani of Ramagundam, Peddapalli district. According to Assistant Commissioner of police Umendar, Mr Adla Sanjeeva Reddy, a resident of Mamidapalli in Veenavanka mandal of Karimnagar district, attempted suicide by jumping off the bridge on the river. Mr Sanjeeva Reddy lives with his sons Narayana Reddy and Narasimha Reddy for the past few years, after the death of his wife. Few days ago, Mr Sanjeeva Reddy handed over his property of 20 acres along with Rs 3 lakhs divided equally between his sons.
After this, they allegedly started harassing him and did not even provide him food. Moreover, they started abusing him and pressured him so much he decided to jump in the waters and end his life, he said. Unable to bear the torture by his sons, Mr Sanjeeva Reddy jumped into the Godavari river from the bridge. The locals who noticed this, rescued the old man and informed the police, he added.
