Naveen Patnaik is delivering new schemes: Kamal Haasan
Chennai: Kamal Haasan, founder-president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) who called on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his “advice,” said Mr. Patnaik has been delivering good new schemes for people and some of them are pioneering ones at the all-India level.
“He (Mr Patnaik) has been delivering good new schemes for people, some of them are pioneering ones at the all-India level.. his disaster management has been very good. Since there is a lot to learn from him, I met him and lauded him as a fan and got some advice,” Kamal said on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters here after the meeting the Odisha CM, Kamal said he met the BJD veteran to appreciate him as a fan and also seek his advice.
He lauded Patnaik for delivering good governance and said the Odisha Chief Minister initially faced ‘criticism’ for being a ‘newcomer’ in politics but later ‘achieved more than those’ who were aware of politics.
Mr Patnaik who was on a two-day visit to the city inaugurated the Odisha Bhavan on Tuesday and on Wednesday he participated in an investors’ meet held here ahead of the ‘Make in Odisha Conclave’ scheduled for November.
On the increasing fuel prices, the actor-politician said if the upward trend continued, then rates of even “ordinary items” would go up and called for rollback of prices.
Odisha showcases investment potential in Chennai:
The Odisha government on Wednesday organised an investors' meet here ahead of the Make in Odisha Conclave scheduled for November. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met several industry captains during the roadshow organised in association with its industries partner Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
“I take this opportunity to invite you all to participate in the Make in Odisha Conclave - our flagship biennial global investors’ meet,” he said.
“As you are aware, our natural strength lies in being a mineral rich state. During the last 18 years of my government, we have focused on enhancing the production levels of key minerals and value added products. There has been a significant increase in the metal output and today, Odisha is home to major aluminium and steel companies of country,” he added.
