MK Stalin dares TN CM to file case
Chennai: DMK president M. K. Stalin on Wednesday dared Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to file case against his party leaders if he has proof against them and said the DMK will continue to ‘expose the scams of the State government.’
Lashing out at Mr Palaniswami for calling his party a “company” Mr. Stalin said this was nothing but “cheap” criticism and it showed that the Chief Minister had “no control over the choice of his words.” “We are not afraid of the allegations levelled against us. If you have proof for the allegations, go ahead and file the cases. We are ready to face them,” Mr Stalin said in a statement here on Wednesday.
While participating in a protest agitation in Salem on Tuesday, condemning the DMK and the Congress on the Sri Lankan Tamil issue, Mr Palaniswami had hit out at the DMK president and other party leaders and demanded an international probe against the DMK and it ally Congress for “war crimes” against Tamils in the 2009 SL civil conflict when UPA was in power.
Asking the CM to ‘mind his words’ he said the DMK would not be cowed down by threats. If the AIADMK was really so concerned about the Sri Lankan Tamils, the party should have staged agitations against the BJP government. “But how can they protest against their masters?” he taunted.
The AIADMK leaders, he said, should not look at the DMK’s back but should see their ‘faces which are painted black with coal deposits.’ “The DMK has faced several protests in the past and has come out of all these successfully. The party is in a strong position and the AIADMK ministers are not able to digest this and are levelling allegations against us,” Mr. Stalin said and added that his party would cross the “river of fire and emerge as pure gold.”
“Now there are several corruption complaints against ministers, resulting in income tax and CBI searches the DMK will continue to expose the scams,” he said. Mr. Stalin claimed that former AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa had floated several shell companies and this was revealed in the Justice Cunha verdict in the disproportionate assets case.
