DMK to support HR & CE agitation against Raja

MK Stalin said rather than taking stern action against H Raja, govt was “shielding” the BJP leader.

Chennai: The opposition DMK has announced its support to the employees of State Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments ( HR & CE) department in their protest agitation on Thursday demanding the arrest of BJP national secretary H. Raja for his “uncivilised remarks” on the employees’ women folk.

Condemning the State government for not arresting H. Raja, despite cases being registered against him, DMK president M. K. Stalin said in a statement here on Wednesday that rather than taking stern action against him the government was “shielding” the BJP leader and allowing him to speak “ill of others.”

Referring to the idol theft case, Raja had brazenly accused the HR & CE staff of being “robbers” and had even spoken despicably about the women folk of the employees.

“It is disheartening that both the Centre and State governments are supporting Raja’s provocative speech which aimed to disturbing the peace and public tranquility,” Mr. Stalin said and demanded his arrest immediately.
