Petition to protect school established by former TN CM Kamaraj's friend
Chennai: A petition has been filed in the Madras high court seeking direction to protect a school established by a close friend of former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj in Tirunelveli on November 24, 1949.
In the petition, M. Nagarajan, grandson of Sangu Ganesan, a close friend of Kamaraj, stated that his grandfather established a school in Vadakkankulam in Tirunelveli district, as per wishes of Kamaraj. Sagu Ganesan donated around 60 acres of land to the institution and Vadakkankulam Nadar Mahajana Sangam was formed to run the school.
In 2005, R. Arulrajan and his relatives became the office-bearers of the sangam. Soon, they started selling the property. The proceeds of the sale have been misappropriated by them. Hence, Nagarajan lodged complaints to the district registrar on October 20, 2015, and to the superintendent of police on April 5, 2016. As there was no action, he filed the petition.
When the matter came up for hearing before Justice M. Duraiswamy directed the inspector general of registration to consider the representation and pass orders in six weeks.
