Green pat for 8 villages in Andhra Pradesh
Nellore: The village adopted by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar—‘Puttamraju Vari Kandriga’ of Gudur Mandal, SPSR Nellore district, has been chosen as the first ‘Green Village’ in the state of Andhra Pradesh by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
The IGBC has already completed the ‘green audit’ of the Puttamarajuvari Kandriga village and has come to a conclusion that the village overwhelmingly qualifies for ‘the IGBC Green Village Award’.
This would be one of the first green villages in Andhra Pradesh.
A ‘green village’ is one which offers basic resources like water, energy and infrastructure like education, health care and sanitation. All of this will finally lead to economic prosperity and an enhanced quality of life.
The IGBC Green Village Rating Criteria is based on:
-Health and Hygiene.
-Village Infrastru-cture.
-Water Conservation.
-Energy Availability and Efficiency.
-Material and Resources.
-Social and Community Actions.
-Green Innovation.
When evaluated under the Green Village criteria, the Puttamara-juvari Kandriga village scored 61 credits and qualified for the “IGBC GOLD” rating. So far, 8 villages have been awarded in 8 states.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), will have the award ceremony during the upcoming Interna-tional Conference, on Green Buildings – The Green Building Congress 2017, at Jaipur from October 5 to 7. The district collector, R. Muthyala Raju, has been invited to receive the coveted award along with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
