CBSE students can participate in national games

Sports events such as table tennis, badminton, judo, swimming, football (girls), tennis and chess have been included under the new rule.

Hyderabad: In a bid to increase healthy competition among school students, the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular stating that the winning team as well as the runner up in certain sports events can both take part in the CBSE’s national level games.

This move has been initiated after the introduction of the under 17 category for interschool sports and games held in CBSE schools starting from this academic year which has led to increased participation.

Sports events such as table tennis, badminton, judo, swimming, football (girls), tennis and chess have been included under the new rule. The top two teams and the top five individuals in rifle shooting will be selected for the CBSE nationals. The decision has been taken after students showed more interest in rifle shooting after the excellent performance by Indians.
