K Chandrasekhar Rao's offer gets 14 responses
Hyderabad: The GHMC has not drawn up guidelines for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s offer of a Rs 10,000 reward to those who identify and report illegal constructions in GHMC area. Mr Rao had announced the scheme last week when he had ordered demolition of illegal structures.
Following the announ-cement, 14 complaints were reported to the GHMC but there is no word about the reward. GHMC officer’s reply when asked about the prize, was: “Ask the CM.”
Mr Laxman Reddy, a resident of Saidabad, said, “I called the emergency number 100 to report an unauthorised construction near the Bata showroom, SBI Colony. The officer just took the complaint and did not mention anything about the reward. He said town planning officer Mahender would follow up.”
Shalibanda resident Jahan-gir Unnisa added, “The footpath near Shah House Hotel, Syed Alisa Putra has been encroached. My complaint has been forwarded to the town planning officer, no further information was given to me”.
“We don’t know who will give the money, but you can report to the GHMC in case of complaints,” an assistant engineer told a caller. GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said, “There has been no guidelines formed yet for the Chief Minister’s scheme of Rs 10,000 per illegal construction reported.”
Earlier too, following former commissioner Somesh Kumar’s offer of awarding Rs 1,000 for information regarding potholes, the GHMC had received many complaints but officials had given similar replies to the complainants.
