Delhi: 2 students stab teacher in front of classmates after he expels them
New Delhi: Two class 12 students of a government school in West Delhi's Nangloi area were taken into custody on Tuesday for allegedly stabbing their teacher who had expelled them for low attendance, police said.
"One class 12 student was arrested and one juvenile apprehended," Joint CP (Delhi) said.
The students had allegedly stabbed Mukesh, a Hindi teacher, with a knife in front of their classmates on Monday after they were not allowed to sit for an examination due to lack of sufficient attendance.
The teacher was rushed to Balaji Action hospital in Delhi, but he succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday. Gulab Sharma, another school staff, alleged that the hospital delayed in giving Mukesh treatment. "The hospital authorities asked to deposit money first before treatment," another school staff said.
Teachers organised a protest at the Nangloi school following the teacher's death.
The incident took place around 5 pm when the students were writing their exam at the Government Senior Secondary School. "Mukesh Kumar was stabbed thrice allegedly by the two boys in front of the entire class, after which the two boys fled," a police officer said.
"One of the accused was expelled for low attendance. He went to the school to speak with Mr Kumar. During the conversation, the boy and his friend, who was writing the exam, reportedly lost their temper, and in a fit of rage, stabbed Mr Kumar," the police said, adding that "one of the accused is 18 years old while the other will turn 18 in two months."
An 'attempt to murder' case was registered at the Nangloi Police Station and the family members of the accused are being questioned to know the whereabouts of the duo, the officer said.
