BENGALURU: It was Sunday morning and traders were busy carrying out their regular business at the crowded K.R. Market. All of a sudden, officials and pourakarmikas emerged out of nowhere and started harassing the traders to vacate. When the traders questioned as to why they were being asked to move, the officials said, "Deputy Chief Minister Dr Parameshwar and Mayor are coming to the market."

After the Varamahalakshmi Puja, K.R. Market and Shivajinagar are filled with garbage and unsold goods abandoned by traders. To clear the garbage, the BBMP had announced an 'intense cleaning drive' to be kicked off by the Mayor and others. To please their higher-ups, BBMP officials started the cleaning dive at the last minute and started harassing the traders. After all the high drama, Dr Parameshwar did not turn up. Later Mayor Sampath Raj visited the market, gave quick instructions to the officials to clean up and went away.
