Chennai: Senior AIADMK leader and state fisheries minister D. Jayakumar is a delight to the eyes and ears whenever he appears before the news TV cameras or makes media statements, even at the most sober moments of politically traumatised times.
And so it came as no surprise, and only as a heap of joy, when his ‘invigorating’ WhatsApp message from distant Japan had a cute little poem in Tamil to desc-
-ribe his picture taken with a cute little lion cub on the veshtied lap.
“When the lion cub saw a gallant Tamil lion from brave Tamil Nadu, he thought it was his father lion and jumped on to my lap”, is the best translation for that wonderful WhatsApp message to media friends from the brilliant poet-minister, who had taken some time off from the ‘International Seafood and Technology Expo’ he had gone to participate, to check out the inmates of the famous Safari Park in Fuji. And as he got the lion cub to cuddle, he was taking care to have a towel on his veshti just in case the little fellow decides to pee.
