18 new fire stations to come up across the Telangana soon
Hyderabad: The state government has sanctioned a request from the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department to establish 18 new fire stations in the state, in addition to the 97 fire stations and 15 fire outposts spread over 10 divisions over 31 districts.
Each of these stations will have 17 men, said the Regional Fire Officer Central Region, V. Papaiah. “The TS Government has accepted the proposal, sanctioned it and is geared up for setting up the new fire stations in districts. The respective district administration’s help will be sought for identifying the sites for establishment,” said the official.
The two areas with a demand for a fire station in the city, Secunderabad Cantonment and Yakutpura in Old City, are among the places where the new ones are being set up, keeping in mind the number of distress calls from these areas.
Each fire station would be having 17 staff members and the process for fresh recruitment for the new stations is also expected to be taken up soon.
Explaining about the staff in each fire station, V. Shekar Reddy, the official of Cherlapally fire station, said that every station would have 15 to 19 men. “In general, every fire station will have one station fire officer, two leading firemen, three driver operator and 10 firefighters. Apart from this, some places might have ADFOs, sweeper and assistant. It varies from place to place,” he said.
The fire services department has procured 25 BS-IV chassis for the fabrication of multi-purpose fire vehicles and water bowser.
