Bengaluru: Employees of the public sector Bharat Earth Movers Ltd, Bengaluru division, showed their displeasure by wearing badges that read, “Save BEML from privatisation”, during Defence Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s visit to the facility on Saturday.
Mr Jaitley was here to inaugurate the third line Metro Manufacturing Facility at BEML Bengaluru Complex, New Thippasandra.
A BEML employee said, “We don't want the government to privatise us. A lot of us will lose jobs if that happens.”
On the new production facility, Mr Aniruddh Kumar, Director (Rail & Metro Business), said, “We have to meet the demand for upcoming projects and we have laid the groundwork for our third line of Metro manufacturing facility to meet the demand for 300 Metro cars annually.”
Mr Jaitley, along with senior officials of BEML, went around the premises.
